Set Up Client Billing

The Set Up Client Billing screen lets you view or edit billing information for your clients, based on information you entered when you set the client up in the Administration module.

In addition, from this screen, you can set up retainers for clients that hire the firm on retainer.

To view and set up or modify billing information:

1.  Select Client Billing from the Setup menu to open the Set Up Client Billing screen.

2.  Select a specific client from the drop-down list in the Client field.

The name and address of the selected client appears in the dialog.

3.  Review the contact and address information for the client and click the Click If Different button to change billing address information for the client, if necessary.

The Client Billing Information dialog opens.

4.  Edit the information in the Client Billing Information dialog to reflect any changes to the client's address or contact data and click OK to close the dialog.

The dialog enables you to change the First Name or Last Name of the client billing contact person, the Address, City, State, or Zip code to which to send bills, or the Phone, Fax, or Email address to use to contact the client.

5.  Select the Retainer option, if the client has hired the firm on retainer, and enter the following information about the retainer:

o       Retainer Amount: Enter the monthly or quarterly amount of the retainer.

o       Retainer Frequency: Select either Monthly or Quarterly from the drop-down list in this field to specify the frequency with which this client is billed under the retainer agreement.

o       Start Date and Expiration Date: Enter the dates the retainer agreement began and will expire directly in these fields or click the fields and use the calendars to specify the dates.

o       Billing Day of Month: Specify the day of each month, from 1 to 31, on which the client is billed.

o       Retainer Description: Enter any description, comment, or note about the retainer or the agreement to appear in the Description field of the retainer.

6. Click Save to save your changes.

The system schedules invoices at appropriate intervals for this client.
